GPS is a navigation system enabled by
a series of satellites that allows those with GPS
receivers to find their way around via latitudinal and
longitudinal coordinates. As previously mentioned, GPS
receivers can be found in some car models or on some
golf courses, allowing drivers (of both kinds!) to know
exactly where they are and where they are going.
However, you don't have to go buy him a new car on get
him on an exclusive golf course to get him closer to
this hot technology. Hand-held GPS receivers are
available on the market at affordable prices, and while
his car may not be enabled with GPS technology, many of
the smaller GPS models easily can be used in the car.
Giving him a GPS receiver may even
turn him on to an interesting hobby called geocaching.
Geocaching is essentially a high-tech treasure hunt in
which "players" with GPS receivers look for hidden
"treasures" (usually inexpensive) according to
latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates posted online
at a variety of geocaching websites. Many players find
this new game rather exhilarating and addictive, and
while the hidden treasures at the end of the rainbow
don't carry much value, the "thrill of the chase" is
what keeps bringing people back to the game.
It doesn't take a GPS receiver to find a great gift for
your man, but a GPS receiver is neat toy itself that is
sitting right under your nose. Your search is over! |
