Most major sporting events - the
Super Bowl, the
Kentucky Derby,
etc. - create a "tough ticket" situation, and the
Masters is no different. Obtaining tickets from the
tournament itself is not the route to go - a waiting
list was reestablished in 2000, after being closed for
22 years, but that waiting list is now closed. A ticket
broker or auction site represents the best opportunity
to get tickets, but be prepared to start your search
early, and have the propensity to spend some money. Your
money will be well-spent, however; the quality of the
golf, combined with the relative exclusivity of
attending the event, will be an experience he will
cherish for a lifetime.
For those of you with perhaps a
smaller bankroll to spend on your man, you may want to
consider looking into Masters Practice Round tickets.
Practice Rounds are held on Monday and Tuesday, with a
Par 3 contest on Wednesday, the day before the
tournament begins on Thursday. Practice Round tickets
may be requested via the Tournament itself (write
"Masters Tournament - Practice Rounds", P.O. Box 2047,
Augusta, GA 30903), but be sure to request tickets
before July 15 of the year prior to the tournament.
Of course, ticket brokers and auction sites will also
present Practice Round ticket opportunities. Going
the Practice Round route will still give him a taste of
the aura of the Masters, and he can always stick around
for the weekend to see if he can land tickets outside of
the gates of Augusta National.
It's a site to see a Tiger Woods or
Phil Mickelson mash a 300-yard+ drive down the fairway
in person; watching these stars and others doing it at
the premier golf event in the country would be a memory
he would likely never forget. Giving him the opportunity
to see the Masters in person will go a long way in
getting his golf season started off on the right foot! |
